the times that make you, you

There are times in every person's life that shape them and change them into the person God wants them to be: trials. I'm young. I'm not experienced. If you ask someone who's lived for 50+ years- they know what a trial is. I also think about a friend of mine who has cancer. She's really going through a trial. I haven't experienced a lot of health related trials in my lifetime but last week marked a first on my calender. After getting a sudden high fever, chills, thirst, and some other symptoms, I went to the doctor.
They ran some tests and found out I have a Kidney infection. I was badly dehydrated and had a racing heart. I had probably been having an infection for a month but had been ignoring the symptoms due to my busy-ness. I was immediately put on an IV, given a shot, and put on antibiotics. I was sent home but the doctor told me to go to the ER if my condition changed in any way.
Within a few hours, I started feeling a lot better. I couldn't explain how or why. But I was praying. And so were many saints. What happened over the next 48 hours is nothing short of a display of God's power. By the next day(Wednesday) I started eating again. Thursday, I was walking around. The day after, I went to the doctor and she was amazed. She said, "I was pretty worried about you. Most people in your condition would have been in the hospital." All my vitals were back to normal and I looked healthy, all within 48 hours!
I could tell myself, "Of course, I'm young, resiliant." But it wasn't me. I had no control over my condition. At that point I started praising God. Let me just share something that I learned at that moment: The prayers of the saints are precious. I know God hears them. It's not as if He's waiting for a certain number or is manipulated to the point of doing something. He is merciful and listens to His children. There are so many things I am thankful for, friends, prayers, health, but most of all I am thankful that I serve a God who is powerful and Sovereign. A God who is making me into the person He wants me to be.
