There are two reasons I added this feature:
1. I've noticed that blogs with this feature tend to be more conducive to lively chats and/or debates. (not that I've posted anything recently that's too debate-able...well...maybe the febreze post...that one was stepping on hot rocks in boiling water...whooo boy.)
2. Most people don't have or use their google accounts the same way you use a facebook account. Facebook just screams "interaction." Facebook is a bff. Google is like the next door neighbor you talk to once a month when you pass by [and occasionally build snowmans for :) :) :).]
